World Globes are produced in many styles. In addition to the traditional craft board style, you will also find globes produced of plastic also known as acrylic globes. Most
illuminated globes are produced with an acrylic sphere (not shown in this video) to allow the illumination to shine through and highlight various aspects of the political or physical attributes of a globe in addition to its nomenclature.
In addition, you will find many hand blown crystal globes such as those produced by
Columbus Globes that are produced with a crystal/glass blend. These globes are a single piece, therefore the illumination shines through with out hindrance around the equator where most globes come together and the connection between the two are hidden by equatorial identifying tape.
