The 16" outer sphere of the Starship Earth II displays the most current data from Sky Catalogue 2000.0, as well as 88 constellations and more than 1,100 stars that can be seen with the naked eye. Prominent deep sky objects are set against a precision grid of Right Ascension and Declination lines and the Milky Way and Magellanic Clouds are shown in a smoky, translucent blue.

Each star is identified by name, Greek letter designations, brightness, from first to fifth magnitude and the distance the star is from the Earth in light years. An easy, three step setting allows you to reproduce the Earth, Sun and star movements and the outer sphere beautifully highlights the astral equivalents that are used to locate stars. All of the unique graphics on the Starship Earth II sphere have been carefully hand silk screened on the interior surface of the globe for long lasting protection.
